I love Christmastime so much that I'm often asked by friends and family why that is. I realized it's not the money spent on gifts or the extravagance of decor, but it's the adorning of what we already have with a light or garland that adds warmth. It's the feeling of being kind and generous to all those around us. It's the pause of businesses to focus on family and friends. And even thought we tend to get swept up in the capitalism of it all, the truth of the matter is we pause to appreciate what we have.

In the song I say "even though times aren't quite what we'd like them to be, being with you brings me peace." So as the world is filled with turmoil and some of us are even separated from our loved ones, the physical presence of our loved ones or even the serene moments lost in the memories of them, it's a miraculous time. Especially for those who are far from home because of circumstances out of their control.

That is why all proceeds from this song will be going to one of my favorite non-profits American Gateways. Based in Austin, Texas but serving the entire Central Texas area, they provide critical legal services to asylum-seekers and all immigrants of all status’ who desperately need it at low to no cost. The stories of their clients are incredibly moving at the least and the thing that always gets me is how even with the thousands of people they serve, there are even more who they cannot afford to get to due to bandwidth and funding. Help me help them help more people who cannot help themselves.
